Zip partners with Sovos on compliant AP automation in EMEA
Global e-invoicing compliance and AP orchestration, together from day one.

We’re pleased to share that Zip is partnering with Sovos, the AI-ready tax compliance company, , to give finance teams a single path from regulatory compliance to full AP automation.
The partnership pairs Sovos's market-tested compliance network with Zip's orchestration and AI platform, so companies can meet e-invoicing mandates and improve how AP actually runs on the same foundation.
E-invoicing mandates leave most AP work untouched
Finance teams have spent the past several years investing heavily in e-invoicing compliance, with platform selection, ERP integration, and accelerated programs to meet a wave of mandates. Belgium and Poland went live earlier this year, and France has confirmed it will arrive in September 2026. These investments are necessary, but mandates solve for external compliance and most of the operational work inside AP remains untouched.
The pressure on that work keeps building. PwC's Finance Effectiveness Benchmarking Study shows median finance cost as a percentage of revenue fell from 1.05% in 2012 to 0.76% in 2023. In Deloitte's Q1 2026 UK CFO Survey, 68% of CFOs rank cost control as their top priority and a net 79% expect hiring to fall. Finance is being asked to support larger, more complex businesses with the same or fewer people.
AP absorbs much of that squeeze. Ardent Partners found that only 44.3% of invoices are linked to a purchase order, which means most invoices arrive without the context AP needs to process them cleanly. The result is that 21.8% of AP staff time goes to supplier inquiries and exception resolution.
E-invoicing mandates were never designed to fix this. If anything, structured invoices arrive faster, so the non-PO problem surfaces sooner.
How Sovos and Zip connect compliance with AP automation
With Sovos handling the regulated layer, Zip extends that compliance investment into the areas mandates don't cover: workflow controls, routing logic, exception handling, invoice coding, and review. Finance teams keep the compliance framework they've already built and add an AP automation layer designed to work alongside mandated processes.
Governed AI agents run inside that layer with the context, controls, and auditability finance requires. Human judgment stays in the loop; the automation handles volume, resolves exceptions, and keeps the data behind the close reliable. Teams can respond faster to a volatile trading environment without giving up oversight or their data.
The outcome is a finance function that meets its mandates and keeps pace with company growth, without expanding headcount and without starting from scratch.
Ready for France's 2026 e-invoicing mandate and beyond
Belgium and Poland are live, and France is less than two months away. More markets are defining their own approaches, and the map will keep changing. The strategic move is to address current requirements on infrastructure that adapts as new regulations land.
That's the design principle behind this partnership. Sovos stays ahead of global e-invoicing regulation so your business doesn't have to track it alone. Zip turns that compliance foundation into an operational one.
Together, finance leaders now have a way to manage today's requirements while building the resilient, scalable infrastructure the next wave will demand.
