Today we're announcing a suite of offerings that finally bring governed AI to enterprise procurement and finance.

  • Zip Superagents are an AI workforce that takes on real procurement work: reviewing contracts, unblocking approvals, coding invoices, researching vendors. Every action is governed by your policies and produces a complete audit trail.
  • Zip MCP connects Zip's procurement intelligence directly to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT, so employees can work in their preferred AI tools without leaving Zip's governed orchestration layer behind.
  • Zip AI Spend Automation is our transformation offering that pairs advanced AI governance capabilities with Zip's Forward Deployed Engineers to build and deploy custom Superagents for your specific workflows.

Here how each optimizes procurement for the new era.

The governance gap shadow AI created

Right now, there’s a good chance someone in your company is pasting a contract into Claude to redline it. Meanwhile, someone in finance is uploading a spend file to ChatGPT to analyze variance, and a category manager is asking Gemini to draft an RFP response. None of this is governed or logged, and if and when an auditor asks six months from now how a decision got made, no one will be able to pull it up.

Procurement is one of the few functions where decisions carry direct financial, legal, and compliance consequences. Every approval has to be auditable months or years later, and every vendor decision can show up in a SOX review.

So when sensitive enterprise data leaves Zip and lands in a personal LLM environment, the risk is real:

  • Public companies that fail compliance audits can be delisted
  • Sensitive data persists in personal AI history after an employee leaves
  • SOX violations carry fines up to $25 million, with real legal repercussions

A common answer may be to train employees to avoid uploading company data into their LLM assistant, but the honor-system doesn't cut it when comes to real, reliable compliance at scale. The solution is to bring the AI into the system where the guardrails of governance already live.

That's why the world's leading AI companies run their procurement on Zip. They want the controls, audit trails and the integrations to systems of record. They understand the risk when employees paste sensitive data into general-purpose AI.

Zip Superagents: The AI workforce that takes action

Superagents are AI agents that live inside Zip and do the work your team is doing today.

Unlike scripted automation or general-purpose AI tools, Zip Superagents reason through each situation, take action across your systems, coordinate with employees and stakeholders, and escalate for human review when policy requires it. Every action is bound by the same permissions, policies, and controls that apply to your human users. Every action produces an audit trail.

At launch, we're shipping five Superagents:

  • Procurement Superagent unblocks stalled requests, manages tail-spend negotiation, and handles repetitive follow-up inside your approval controls.
  • Contract Superagent reviews and redlines contracts against your playbooks, flags deviations from standard terms, and routes high-risk issues to legal stakeholders.
  • AP Superagent sorts, codes, matches, and routes invoices using your approval rules, supplier records, and ERP data; maintaining payment controls while removing manual work.
  • Config Superagent identifies workflow bottlenecks and drafts configuration improvements for admin review, so teams can keep optimizing processes without uncontrolled changes.
  • Intake Superagent guides employees through compliant request creation, routes purchases to the right buying channel, extracts quote details, nudges toward preferred suppliers, and prefills required fields based on policy and supplier context.

Zip Superagents will be available this summer.

Zip MCP: Procurement governance, wherever employees work

Shadow AI doesn't only happen in unsanctioned tools; it also happens when employees do procurement work inside AI assistants that have no connection to your controls.

Zip MCP closes that gap. It's a procurement-native implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that connects Zip directly to any MCP-compatible AI assistant. So when an employee is researching vendors in Claude, Zip can proactively surface a request submission from that conversation. When a power user wants aggregated reporting across suppliers, requests, invoices, and payments, they can pull it from a single AI chat.

Every action respects user permissions through OAuth, and every action runs inside Zip's compliance controls. Every action produces an audit trail.

Zip MCP is model-agnostic. Procurement governance travels with the work, regardless of which AI tool an employee prefers. This is the first time MCP has been implemented natively for enterprise procurement.

Zip AI Spend Automation is the path to full automation

Superagents are powerful out of the box, but enterprise procurement isn't one-size-fits-all. Every organization has its own approval hierarchies, compliance requirements, vendor policies, and edge cases.

Zip AI Spend Automation is how our customers optimally deploy governed-AI agents for their specific workflows. It pairs platform access and AI consumption credits with Zip's forward-deployed engineers, who build and deploy custom agents directly inside your environment.

What's included:

  • Zip agent builder platform with access to all Superagent use-cases, skills, tools, integrations, and AI apps
  • Custom development from forward-deployed engineers for agent configuration and optimization
  • Advanced AI governance with additional control and auditability capabilities built for enterprise needs
  • Consumption credits bundled to support scaled AI usage

"Healthcare operates on a different set of stakes, where delayed decisions and fragmented processes create real consequences for patient care, organizational agility, and financial stewardship," said Susanna Rustad, Chief Procurement and Supply Chain Officer at UCI Health

"What stood out to us about Zip's AI Spend Automation was its ability to bring greater visibility, alignment, and discipline to complex enterprise decisions. In one major IT infrastructure initiative, it contributed to more than $20 million in cost avoidance and value recapture."
