Real-time budget control for procurement and finance
How Advanced Budgets in Zip catches overspend before approvals happen.

Finance and procurement teams often find themselves with a timing problem. Budgets tend to sit in static spreadsheets while spend moves through requests, POs, and change orders in real time. By the time someone reconciles the two, the overage has already happened and now the team has to explain what happened, instead of having prevented it in the first place.
Advanced Budgets in Zip puts budgets in the same place spend decisions get made, so the impact of a request is visible before anyone approves it.
How AI budget matching works
When a request comes in, Zip's AI matches it to the most specific, relevant budget without any manual tagging or guessing as to which line it hits. Every request is automatically matched.
You set budgets across any dimension that matters: department, GL, vendor, or a custom field of your own. As requests, POs, and change orders flow through, Zip tracks committed spend against those budgets, and surfaces the status on dashboards and directly on the Request Details Page.
When a request would push a budget past its limit, the budget owner gets a proactive alert before the approval goes through. You can also use budget status as an approval condition, so an at-risk or over-budget request automatically routes to an extra reviewer, such as a finance lead.
Real-time budget visibility and drill-down
At any time, you can drill down from the dashboard into the individual requests, POs, and change orders behind it. When a budget runs hot, you see exactly which approved spend drove the overage, down to the specific request. ERP actuals sync in, so the budget view always reflects what's in the books.
Connecting budgets and spend for finance and procurement
With Zip, budgets and spend no longer exist in entirely separate systems. Teams can drive approvals with full budget context and always remain one step ahead, even in cases when plans shift.
